Temporary restrictions on the import of Chinese mandarins into Uzbekistan have been introduced

Products with a high phytosanitary risk, imported into the territory of Uzbekistan, are regularly inspected. The next sample of mandarin, taken within this framework, was tested in the Central Phytosanitary Laboratory.

According to the results of the investigation, such harmful organisms as Aonidiella aurantii (Maskell) and Dysmicoccus brevipes (Cockerell) were found in the batch of mandarins imported through Kazakhstan. Additional analysis showed that 22.26 tons of this product were grown in the People's Republic of China.

Negotiations are underway with China regarding this situation, and measures are being taken to export products from regions that meet Uzbekistan's phytosanitary requirements.

Recently, in some batches of mandarins imported through Kazakhstan, the phytosanitary certificates indicated South Africa, Turkey, or other countries as the country of origin, but the labels revealed that the product was grown in China.

Due to the fact that this batch of harmful organisms was grown in China, a temporary restriction on the import of Chinese mandarins has been introduced. At the same time, an official request was sent to the responsible authorities of Kazakhstan to correctly indicate the country of origin of the product in accordance with the requirements of ISPM No. 12 when issuing re-export phytosanitary certificates.
