Beef has reached the highest price in 60 years.

The price of beef on the world market has risen sharply, reaching its highest level in the past 60 years. According to data published by the World Bank, in September 2025, the average price for one kilogram of meat amounted to $6.9, which is approximately equal to 83,600 Uzbek soums.

This figure increased by 0.6 percent compared to August and by almost 10 percent compared to last year. Experts note that this increase is related not only to economic but also to natural factors.

Main reasons for the price increase

The World Bank report states that the price of beef is rising due to several factors. Firstly, high global inflation and instability in food markets have directly affected meat prices.

Secondly, the growing consumer demand in large markets such as the United States and China has also contributed to price growth. In particular, in China, with rising household incomes, interest in dietary and high-quality meat products has increased.

At the same time, the rise in dairy product prices has reduced competition in the market and made beef an even more popular source of protein.

Impact of climate and natural factors

Another important reason for the rise in beef prices is related to climate change. Drought, shrinking pasturelands, and rising feed costs have become serious challenges for livestock farming worldwide.

In the United States, for instance, the number of cattle this year dropped to its lowest level since 1951. This situation has led to a shortage of meat in the market and further pushed prices up.

Experts’ opinion

Economists emphasize that if global climate conditions do not improve and livestock support programs are not expanded, prices may continue to rise.

In addition, rising production costs, high energy prices, and complications in logistics systems are also cited as factors driving up the market value.
