Uzbekistan is on the verge of conducting its first post-independence census. The Ministry of Justice has provided official information on the population census process and its procedures, which will begin on January 15, 2026.
According to the data, the census will begin on January 15, 2026, at 00:00 and will last until February 28. During this period, every citizen across the country will be registered through a special electronic system or at their address.
However, some categories of individuals are not included in the account. In particular, citizens who have been outside Uzbekistan for more than a year, as well as children born after the start of the population census, are not included in the list.
At the same time, persons who have died after the start of the population census process are entered into the database. This is done to ensure statistical accuracy and a complete reflection of the country's demographic situation.
Employees of foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of their families, and persons with diplomatic immunity are removed from the register.
Registration is carried out at the place of permanent or temporary residence. That is, each citizen is included in the list, taking into account their day and night residence - this also includes houses, apartments, or other residential premises.
Changes that occurred after the start of registration (such as moving, marriage, or childbirth) are not taken into account in personal data.
This census will be of historical significance for Uzbekistan. It serves as an important basis for accurately assessing the demographic structure, economic and social potential of the country, as well as for planning future state programs.
