The head of the “Ozatom” agency, Azim Ahmedkhodjaev, stated in an interview with the “Uzbekistan 24” TV channel that the future NPP will provide electricity to the Jizzakh, Samarkand and Navoi regions, Kursiv.media reported.
According to Ahmedkhodjaev, the commissioning of the power plant will create a foundation for the development of industry and agriculture in these regions. In addition, it will reduce gas dependence and seasonal fluctuations in “green energy”.
The total capacity of the station being built in Jizzakh will be 2.1 GW. It will consist of both small- and large-capacity reactors. In October, land preparation began for the small-capacity NPP.
