A baby is born every 34 seconds in Uzbekistan

The birth rate in Uzbekistan remains high — every minute, two babies are born, reported oila-gen.uz.

According to the Family and Gender Research Institute, more than 926,400 babies were born across the country during 2024. These numbers reflect not only statistics but also the growth of the population, the increase in the number of families, and the expanding share of the younger generation.

Analyses show that, on average, 2,531 babies are born every day in the country. This means 105 newborns every hour, two every minute, and approximately one every 34 seconds.

For comparison: in Kazakhstan, this figure is 0.6 per minute, in Tajikistan 0.5, and in Kyrgyzstan 0.3. In Turkey, 3 babies are born every minute, in Germany and France 1.4, in China 17, and in India 43 babies.

Experts from the institute emphasize that these figures are not just dry statistics. They show that the family institution in the country is strengthening, the share of youth remains high, and demographic growth continues in its active phase.

At the same time, specialists note that population growth will also lead to a higher demand for labor, education, and social infrastructure. In other words, today’s newborns are tomorrow’s workers, teachers, and professionals.

Demographers believe that Uzbekistan is currently experiencing a “demographic dividend” period — when the share of the working-age population is increasing, creating new opportunities for economic development.

Experts highlight that the growing number of families represents not only statistical growth but also social stability and the nation’s future potential. Every newborn symbolizes new life, new hope, and a valuable contribution to the country’s future.
