President Mirziyoyev visited the Center for Islamic Civilization

On October 20, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Center for Islamic Civilization and reviewed the final stage of construction and installation works.

This center was established by a presidential decree in 2017, and its foundation stone was laid on the eve of Ramadan in 2018. Since then, large-scale construction, landscaping, and educational projects have been implemented on its territory.

The building combines national architectural traditions with modern design. The 65-meter-high dome and the 34-meter four-arched façade add to the structure’s grandeur and architectural significance. In the central part of the building is the Quran Hall, which houses one of the oldest and rarest manuscripts in the Muslim world — the Uthman Quran. Sacred books from the Samanid, Karakhanid, Khwarezmshah, and Timurid eras are also on display.

A modern conference hall with 460 seats has been built within the center, equipped for hosting international conferences and forums. Additionally, there are exhibition sections titled “Pre-Islamic Civilizations,” “First and Second Renaissance,” “Uzbekistan in the 20th Century,” and “New Uzbekistan — New Renaissance.”

The center showcases the scholarly legacy of great thinkers such as Imam Bukhari, Imam Termizi, Abu Mansur Moturidi, and Bahouddin Naqshband, as well as the contributions of spiritual women like Bibi Khanum, Nodirabegim, Uvaysiy, and Anbar otin.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the need to enrich the center’s scientific and educational mission and instructed the creation of an engaging, modern, and interactive environment for visitors. He also gave directives to train qualified guides and specialists and to strengthen cooperation with foreign research institutions.

The head of state underlined that the Center for Islamic Civilization should not only be a hub of religious knowledge but also a scientific and cultural institution that promotes the rich history, spirituality, and scientific achievements of the Uzbek people on a global scale.
