The world's largest military aircraft was manufactured in Tashkent

There is a unique page related to the aviation industry in the history of Tashkent – it was right here, at the V.P. Chkalov factory (TAPOiCh), that the An-22 "Antey" was mass-produced, reports the Telegram channel "Toshkent Kurantlari".

The "Antey", developed by Antonov's Design Bureau, took flight for the first time on February 27, 1965. However, it was the Tashkent factory that became the key to its mass production. In 1969, the first aircraft entered military service. As early as the 1965 Paris Air Show, the "Antey" received the title of the world's largest aircraft and became a symbol of Soviet engineering prowess.

The aircraft's features are impressive: wingspan – 64.4 m, length – about 57.9 m, cruising speed – 560 km/h, operational range – 5200 km, load capacity – up to 60 tons.
