The President of Slovakia visited Samarkand

On the evening of October 29, the plane carrying President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini landed at Samarkand International Airport. This working visit is being carried out at the invitation of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The Slovak leader was welcomed at the aircraft ramp by an official delegation led by Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov. The main event of the visit will be high-level talks between the leaders of the two countries.

At the meeting, the current state of multifaceted cooperation between Tashkent and Bratislava will be discussed in detail, and prospects for its further deepening will be outlined. The parties plan to consider ways to increase mutual trade volumes and implement joint investment projects.

Additionally, Peter Pellegrini’s program in Uzbekistan includes participation as an honorary guest at the 43rd UNESCO General Conference. This major international forum is being held outside the organization’s headquarters in Paris for the first time in 40 years and will begin today, October 30, in Samarkand.

Holding the forum in Uzbekistan demonstrates the country’s growing influence on the international stage. Delegations of the highest level from more than 200 countries are expected to participate in the conference.

This visit is a logical continuation of the active political dialogue between the two countries. Earlier, in June 2025, Uzbekistan and Slovakia signed a Joint Declaration on establishing strategic partnership relations.

This marked a new qualitative stage in bilateral relations.
