The most populous region in Uzbekistan has been identified

A new population ranking has been published in Uzbekistan, reported the National Statistics Committee.

According to the data, the Samarkand region is the most populous in the country, with more than 4.3 million residents.

The Fergana region ranks second with a population of 4.2 million, while the Kashkadarya region holds third place with nearly 3.7 million people.

The top five are completed by the Andijan region (3.5 million) and the city of Tashkent (more than 3.1 million).

In the Namangan and Tashkent regions, the population is slightly below 3.1 million in each, placing them just outside the top five.

The regions with the smallest populations are Syrdarya (942 thousand people) and Navoi (1.1 million people).

Among the remaining regions, the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as the Bukhara and Khorezm regions, each have around 2 million inhabitants.

Experts note that population growth is increasing the demand for urban infrastructure development, job creation, and social services.
