By November 2025, the maternal mortality rate in Uzbekistan had decreased by 25 percent. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Health Elmira Basitkhonova.
According to her forecasts, by the end of the year this indicator could reach 30 percent. This statement was made at an event dedicated to the completion of the World Health Organization’s “Healthy Start to Life – A Guarantee of a Prosperous Future” program.
The improvement in indicators was aided by measures such as early detection of diseases in women during pregnancy and promoting a healthy lifestyle. The Ministry of Health, together with international partners, continues efforts to strengthen the system for protecting maternal and child health.
Final statistical data for 2025 will be published at the beginning of 2026. According to the World Health Organization, the majority of maternal deaths worldwide can be prevented with quality medical care before, during, and after childbirth.
