Sodiq Safoyev: Tashkent registration was against human rights

The First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan, Sodiq Safoyev, sharply criticized the previously existing Tashkent registration system. He assessed this order as a system that infringes on human rights and contradicts the principles of justice.
Safoyev emphasized that, despite being a citizen of Uzbekistan, people could not live in the capital at will. The absence of a residence permit caused serious problems with employment, registration, and the organization of daily life. This exacerbated inequality and social injustice in society.
He emphasized that as a result of the head of state's policy of prioritizing human rights, this "shameful system" was abolished. This decision was an important step in ensuring the rights of citizens to freedom of movement, choice of residence, and labor.
According to Safoyev, the abolition of the residency permit system marked the beginning of a new stage in Uzbekistan based on openness and fairness. Citizens can now legally and freely reside in any region of the country, including Tashkent.
