Mirziyoyev sharply criticized the hidden turnover at the Malika market

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed a firm response to situations related to tax discipline at the “Malika” market in Tashkent. The head of state noted that the situation in the market has come to a “one thing on paper, another in practice” form, and emphasized that the issue of order here has reached a level that cannot be delayed.
It is reported that out of approximately 1,500 entrepreneurs operating in the market, only a quarter have passed official registration. The most serious aspect is that 25 percent of those who are registered do not pay even 1 million soums in taxes per month.
During inspections, another painful figure was revealed: in December, turnover of around 600 billion soums was hidden through plastic cards. This is big money — the more “invisible” turnover there is in the economy, the faster fair competition is eroded.
In this connection, the activity of the tax authorities of the city of Tashkent was assessed as unsatisfactory. According to the results of the inspection, it was reported that personnel measures were taken against responsible managers.
The state’s position is clear: the main goal is transparency, fair competition, and strict control. That is, if one conducts business by following the rules, the other should not gain an advantage by “hiding turnover”. In this matter, the principle of “the same rule for everyone” must work.
