New preference will also be given to the B1 certificate when entering university

In Uzbekistan, another important update has appeared in the rules for admission to higher education: now, when applying to some programs, a B1-level foreign language certificate will also be taken into account. The Ministry of Justice reported that, by the relevant government decision, amendments and additions were introduced into some regulatory legal documents.

According to the new procedure, admission to educational programs where a foreign language is designated as the 1st subject in the set of subjects will now be carried out on the basis of a nationally or internationally recognized certificate of foreign language proficiency at least at the B1 level.

At the same time, for programs where a foreign language is included in the set of subjects, points will be awarded to applicants with certificates as follows:

  • For an applicant with a national or internationally recognized B1-level certificate — 75 percent of the maximum score set for this subject;
  • For an applicant with a national or internationally recognized B2-level or higher certificate — the full maximum score set for this subject.

For information: previously, admission to these programs was carried out only on the basis of at least a B2-level national or internationally recognized certificate. Now B1 also “opens the way” — that is, the achievement of an applicant who worked for the certificate will not be ignored.
