As of January 1, 2026, the number of women in Uzbekistan exceeded 18.9 million and they make up 49.6 percent of the permanent population. This was reported by the National Statistics Committee.
According to statistics, the Samarkand region leads in the number of women, where 2 million 172.4 thousand women live. The next positions are held by the Fergana region with 2 million 91.2 thousand and the Kashkadarya region with 1 million 831.6 thousand women.
The smallest number of women live in the Syrdarya region — 471 thousand and in the Navoi region — 548.7 thousand.
Also, as of February 7, 2026, the permanent population of Uzbekistan reached 38 million 300 thousand 520 people. Of them, 19 million 12 thousand 368 are women, and 19 million 288 thousand 132 are men.
Another important figure: in 2025, 879.6 thousand babies were born in the country, and the largest number of births was recorded in the Samarkand and Fergana regions.
