Elon Musk's social network X will pay US President Donald Trump $10 million to settle a lawsuit filed by the politician after his social media accounts were blocked after his supporters stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021. This was reported by Reuters.

Meta pays Trump $25 million

X is the second platform to reach a settlement with Trump after his accounts were blocked. Last month, Mark Zuckerberg's Meta Platforms agreed to pay the US president $25 million as part of a similar settlement. At the time, Trump's lawyer John Cole said that this agreement was reached as a result of negotiations between the president and Zuckerberg.

As part of the agreement, Meta will spend $ 22 million to build Trump's presidential library, and the remaining $ 3 million will be received by the plaintiffs who filed the lawsuit together with the US president.

Trump's lawsuits against social networks

In 2021, the politician, along with several other plaintiffs, filed a lawsuit against Facebook, Twitter (now X) and Alphabet (the holding company that manages Google and its subsidiaries) for blocking his accounts on social networks.

Trump's accounts on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube (owned by Google) and Twitter were blocked in January 2021 after his supporters stormed the Capitol building, dissatisfied with the results of the presidential election. His Facebook page was unblocked in 2023, and X's account was restored in 2022.
