The US military has killed one of the leaders of the Al-Qaeda terrorist group in Syria. President Donald Trump wrote about this on his Truth Social page.

According to Trump, the eliminated terrorist collaborated with Al-Qaeda throughout the region. It was not specified which leader he was talking about.

"This weekend, the US military carried out a high-precision airstrike against an Al-Qaeda member in Syria," the president said.

He congratulated the head of the US Central Command, Michael Kurill, and the military pilots on the successful operation.

According to the US Central Command, a February 15 strike in northwestern Syria killed a leader of the al-Qaeda-affiliated Khurras al-Din organization. He was responsible for the group's financial operations and logistics.

"The attack was carried out to disrupt terrorist efforts to plan, organize, and carry out attacks against US citizens and military personnel," the report said.

In 2024, Pakistani law enforcement officers arrested Amin ul-Haq, one of the leaders of al-Qaeda and a close associate of Osama bin Laden.

In May 2023, the US Central Command acknowledged that an ordinary farmer had been killed in an airstrike on the leader of al-Qaeda in Syria.

The extremist group al-Qaeda is designated a "terrorist organization" by a number of countries and international organizations.
