The United States will sell wealthy foreigners so-called "golden cards," which allow them to live and work in the United States and pave the way for American citizenship. President Donald Trump said this in a conversation with reporters in the Oval Office on Tuesday, February 25. According to him, the price of the "golden card" is about 5 million US dollars.

"We are going to sell the gold card," CNN quotes the head of state as saying on its website. "You have a green card. And this is a gold card. We will value this card at about 5 million dollars, and it will give you the benefits of a green card, plus an easy way to obtain citizenship. Rich people will come to our country and buy this card.”

“Golden Card” to replace EB-5 immigrant visas

US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick explained that the Golden Card will replace the government’s EB-5 immigrant visa program.

According to Trump, sales of Golden Cards could begin within two weeks. He expects millions of cards to be sold. “From a legal point of view, it is absolutely legal,” the US president said.

Asked if he would be willing to sell Golden Cards to Russian oligarchs, Donald Trump replied: “Yes, maybe. I know some Russian oligarchs who are very good people.”
