Zelensky reveals details of US agreement with Ukraine and Russia

Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that there were certain differences in the agreements reached by the US delegation with representatives of Ukraine and Russia as a result of the meetings in Saudi Arabia, Unian reports.

According to the Ukrainian President, two statements will be issued following the meetings in Saudi Arabia: one on the results of the agreements between Ukraine and the US, and the second on the meeting of the US and Russian delegations. The main difference between these statements is reflected in the fifth paragraph.

“First of all, we agreed on peace at sea and free movement of ships,” Zelenskyy said.

The Ukrainian delegation discussed the issue of a ceasefire in the context of strikes on infrastructure at a separate meeting with the US side.

“We devoted a lot of time to this. If we are talking about peace at sea and free movement of ships, this also includes infrastructure. We will see how this is implemented,” Zelensky said.

The second point of the agreements includes the prohibition of attacks on the energy system. According to this agreement, neither Ukraine nor Russia should carry out such attacks. At the same time, Ukraine has separately provided the United States with a list of objects that Kiev considers to be “strategic infrastructure.”

According to Zelensky, Ukraine also raised the issue of protecting civilian infrastructure, but this point was not included in the text of the statement.

“But we have agreed on this. The American side, in general, believes that the issue of peace in the sky and energy also applies to other civilian infrastructure. Nevertheless, if there are no attacks on energy, this is a great result,” he stressed.

The third point of the agreements concerns control and monitoring. “We agreed that third parties, in addition to America, can be involved. This is not bad. For example, one of the European countries or Turkey. Depending on the situation at sea, one of the Middle Eastern countries can be involved,” Zelensky said.

The fourth paragraph, at the suggestion of the United States, provides for cooperation in ensuring a stable peace.

“We emphasize once again that we are ready to act quickly to achieve an unconditional ceasefire. The next stage is steps towards achieving a stable and just peace,” the Ukrainian president said.

The fifth paragraph of the agreements differs both in the statement of Ukraine with the United States and in the statement between the United States and Russia.

“As far as we know, the Russians asked the United States to help their agro-industrial sector, that is, the transportation of agricultural products. That is, this includes ports, tariffs and similar issues. We did not agree to include this paragraph in our common document. We consider this a weakening of positions and easing of sanctions,” Zelensky said.

At the same time, he said, not all the details of this item are known, since the Ukrainian side did not participate in the meeting between the US and Russian delegations.

“This was not on our agenda. The US side violated it. Umerov contacted me. I said that this issue is not included in the discussion of an unconditional ceasefire,” Zelensky said.

The president stressed that even a partial ceasefire in the air and sea does not include the removal of obstacles to the transportation of Russian agricultural products.

In addition, Ukraine demands the return of deported and abducted children, and the exchange of military and civilian prisoners. “Therefore, it was agreed that there will be two statements.
