German island of Wangerooge is looking for a new mayor - an ad was published in the newspaper

On the island of Wangerooge in the North Sea of Germany, the local government has begun searching for a suitable candidate for the position of mayor. This time, the island administration is trying to find a new mayor by advertising in the newspaper.
According to Spiegel, the Christian Democrats, Social Democrats and the Green Party decided to jointly advertise. It sets out a number of requirements for candidates for the position of mayor.
Requirements for candidates for mayor:
- Be willing to live on the island;
- Have a higher education;
- Have experience in administrative work;
- Be within the legally established age range (23-67 years old).
The advertisement reads: “With us, you can shape the future in a responsible position.”
The current mayor, Marcel Fangor, was also found in the same newspaper seven years ago. This time, the local authorities are hoping to find a suitable candidate in the same way. The reason is that the island is experiencing an increasing shortage of qualified personnel in the administrative sector.
Interestingly, a recent advertisement for the position of lighthouse keeper went viral on the Internet, making Wangerooge famous throughout Germany.
Application deadline and election date
The new mayor will be elected on August 17. Candidates for this position can apply until June 14.
Only time will tell how successful this advertisement will be in finding the island administration the necessary specialist.
