What did Trump say about the progress of negotiations on the war in Ukraine?
U.S. President Donald Trump suggested that peace negotiations to end the war in Ukraine may be progressing positively, CNN reported.

Speaking aboard Air Force One on Saturday, April 12, Trump told reporters: “I think things between Ukraine and Russia are going well. There comes a point where you either do something or wait quietly, but I think it’s going well.”

This statement came a day after Trump expressed frustration with Russia and urged Moscow to “work” toward a resolution.

On April 11, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin amid a deadlock in discussions over a ceasefire and conditions for ending hostilities.

Trump also hinted that if Moscow continues to stall, the U.S. could impose secondary sanctions on countries purchasing Russian oil.

Previously, Witkoff told Trump after talks in Washington with Putin’s envoy Kirill Dmitriev that the quickest way to a ceasefire might involve handing over control of four Ukrainian regions annexed by Russia in 2022.
