US eases port fees on China-built vessels
The Trump administration has reduced planned port duties on Chinese-built ships, finance.mail.ru reported.

Initially, tariffs up to $1.5 million per ship visit were proposed, alarming the global shipping industry. The revised policy now exempts vessels serving US territories, Great Lakes, and the Caribbean from these fees.

Empty ships arriving for export loading are also exempt. New fees are limited to six times per year and will be calculated either per net tonnage ($50 increasing annually) or per container ($120 rising to $250 over three years).

Ships built in China but owned by non-Chinese firms will pay $18 per net ton, increasing $5 yearly.
