It has become clear who is to blame for shark attacks on people!
French scientists have studied shark attacks on people based on large-scale scientific research. The results of their analysis showed that in most cases, it is not predators, but people themselves who are the cause of such attacks.

According to the study, the recent increase in shark attacks on people is largely due to the actions of social networks and celebrities on the Internet. In particular, bloggers and celebrities on social networks are trying to make them look safe by being in close contact with sharks. However, experts believe that such actions increase the risk of shark attacks.

According to Eric Cloy, a senior researcher at the Center for the Study of Islands and the Observatory of the Environment, sharks are usually not the first to attack people. On the contrary, people in such cases disrupt the natural behavior of predators and scare them away. The scientist also advises against close contact with sharks:

“Many famous people on social networks grab sharks by the dorsal fin or pet them to show their safety. This is a huge mistake. Sharks should not be scared. They attack out of an instinct for self-defense,” says Eric Cloy.

According to scientists, most people understand the difference between different breeds of dogs, for example, Yorkshire terriers and pit bulls, and will not approach a dangerous pit bull. However, this logic does not apply to sharks. People cannot distinguish between their species and the level of danger.

The results of the study show that sharks perceive humans as a threat first of all. That is why they do not attack them in the first place, but, on the contrary, try to avoid contact. They only attack lightly when there is no way to escape and do not cause serious injury to humans.

Tourists and fishermen on the high seas are the main victims of sharks. Because sharks see them as prey or a threat to their territory and are forced to defend themselves. However, this type of attack is very different from their hunting attacks. During hunting, the shark attacks its prey mercilessly in order to destroy and consume it.

Therefore, to avoid shark attacks, it is necessary to respect their natural environment and refrain from unnecessary contact. In addition, it is important not to imitate dangerous actions that are spread on social networks. Because a careful attitude towards nature ensures safety for everyone.
