An agreement on natural resources was signed between the USA and Ukraine

“Thanks to President Trump’s tireless efforts to secure a lasting peace, I am pleased to announce a historic economic partnership agreement between the United States and Ukraine to establish a joint investment fund,” said U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said the fund is being established on a 50/50 basis, with “both sides having equal voting rights.” Ukraine will retain “full control over its mineral resources, infrastructure, and natural resources.”

He said the agreement does not involve any debt obligations on the part of Ukraine. In addition, the agreement will not prevent Ukraine from joining the European Union.

As Bloomberg noted, the agreement will give the United States preferential access to new investment projects in the development of Ukraine’s natural resources, including aluminum, graphite, oil, and natural gas.

Bloomberg News previously reviewed the draft agreement. It says that the US and Ukraine will seek to create conditions for "increasing investments in the mining, energy and related sectors of Ukraine." A joint investment fund will be established for this purpose.
