Albania's territorial planning agency has approved the implementation of a luxury resort project on Sazan Island, which will be built by Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, Prime Minister Edi Rama said in an interview with CNN's A2. Kushner will need to submit a package of documents, including technical drawings and an environmental assessment, to obtain final approval.
In January, the Albanian Investment Promotion Agency granted strategic status to the project. The investment is estimated at 1.4 billion euros, and the area where the project will be implemented will occupy 45 hectares. Sazan Island, where the resort will be built, was previously used as a base for Soviet submarines and is still officially a military zone.
The new resort is managed by Aman Resorts, a Swiss company owned by Russian businessman Vladislav Doronin. He is nicknamed the "Russian James Bond" because of his mysterious personality. Aman Resorts is one of the most luxurious resorts in the world: the chain manages more than 30 hotels in 20 countries. A room there costs about $1,400 per night, while individual villas can cost up to $50,000. Aman's regular clients include Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, the Kardashian family, Angelina Jolie, David Beckham, and Tom Hanks.
Albania is not Kushner's only project in the Balkans. He also plans to renovate the former Ministry of Defense building in Belgrade, which was demolished in 1999. Under an agreement with the Serbian government, a hotel and a memorial to the victims of the war will be built in its place. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
