India: “If Pakistan attacks, our response will be strong and decisive”
The tense situation in India-Pakistan relations has once again come into the political spotlight. While New Delhi officials have made it clear that they will not hesitate to respond forcefully in case of danger.

Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, speaking at the India-Iran Joint Commission meeting in New Delhi, stressed that the country does not want to stand up to Pakistan. However, he stressed that India's response to any military provocation or attack will be "very strong and proportionate."

He stressed that India has always been a supporter of peace and diplomatic solutions. However, any action that threatens the country's security will definitely be met with a swift and calculated response.

Jaishankar also recalled the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on April 22. This attack targeted civilians and resulted in a number of deaths and injuries. Following the incident, India announced on May 7 that it had targeted and destroyed a cross-border terrorist infrastructure located outside its territory.

“Our response was clear, measured and very clear,” the minister said.

Indian officials have stressed that ensuring the territorial integrity of the country and the security of its citizens are the highest priority of state policy. Therefore, firm measures are being taken against any threat.

Critics and international observers are assessing this statement as a new stage in the long-running conflict between India and Pakistan. Given that both countries have nuclear capabilities, even a simple military statement can have a significant geopolitical impact.
