A 68-year-old woman from Zurich, Switzerland, is facing charges for regularly feeding her neighbor's pet, Swissinfo reported.
The woman reportedly fed her neighbor's cat, Leo, and let him into her home for 10 months. She even had a special door installed in her home so the cat could enter and exit freely.
The cat's real owners repeatedly asked the woman not to feed Leo. However, despite these requests, the cat kept coming to the woman's house and almost never returned to its owners' homes. As a result, the animal's owners accused the 68-year-old woman of illegally adopting the cat.
The Zurich prosecutor's office has demanded a fine of 3,600 Swiss francs (about $4,300) and an additional 800 francs in compensation for the woman. However, the woman did not agree with the prosecutor's decision and the case was taken to court.
According to Swiss law, pets are considered private property and it is illegal to feed someone else's pets. Such actions are punishable by fines or other penalties.
The case is currently in court. The decision could set an important precedent in the country in the future. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
