Putin: "Ukraine is barely finding 30,000 people, but 60,000 people are coming to us" - is this really true?

Putin: "Ukraine is barely finding 30,000 people, but 60,000 people are coming to us" - is this really true?
The statement that shocked the world community came from Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to him, Russia is sending 50-60 thousand volunteers to the front every month. Ukraine, as he said, is mobilizing barely 30 thousand people.

However, these figures are refuted by Western intelligence services. They say that the number of soldiers called up in Russia every month is about 30-40 thousand. The main motivating factors: large cash rewards and the mobilization of prisoners from prisons.

According to British intelligence, the number of killed and wounded in the Russian army since the beginning of the war has reached almost 1 million. However, despite these losses, by the end of 2024, Russian troops had occupied only 0.5 percent of the territory of Ukraine.

What's happening in Moscow?
  • According to The Economist, the Russian Defense Ministry and the General Staff are pressuring the Kremlin to launch a new wave of mobilization;
  • ISW analyst George Barros: "If mobilization in Moscow continues at its current pace, there are 12-16 months left to maintain movement at the front";
  • Russia is facing economic problems, a lack of human resources and a shortage of resources.

After the partial mobilization in 2022, an estimated 650,000 to 1.1 million Russians left the country. According to The Bell, at least 666,000 of them have not returned to Russia.
