Person who set military facility on fire sentenced to 16 years in prison
27-year-old Aleksey Rozhkov, who committed a dangerous crime in Russia, was sentenced to a strict punishment after investigation and court proceedings. His act was evaluated as a threat to the country's security system. The Central District Military Court sentenced Rozhkov to 16 years in prison.

According to the Russian Investigative Committee, on the night of March 11, 2022, Rozhkov deliberately set fire to a military facility located in the city of Beryozovsky in Sverdlovsk Region. This act was intentional, and its goal was to strike the country’s military potential.

After this high-risk act, Rozhkov made a public statement via the internet, openly admitted his actions, and spread false information discrediting the Armed Forces of Russia.

Although Rozhkov was hiding abroad at that time, his location was identified, he was arrested, and brought to Sverdlovsk Region. The court found him guilty of committing a terrorist act, publicly justifying terrorism on the internet, and spreading deliberately false information.

According to the court's decision, Rozhkov will serve the first 5 years in a regular prison, and the remaining 11 years in a high-security penal colony.

This case shows that in recent years Russia has been strengthening measures regarding state security and the protection of military sites. Officials once again emphasized that such incidents will be met with strict consequences.
