According to the governor, the increase in troops in the region, instead of calming the situation, on the contrary, is exacerbating it and making it difficult to control the situation.

At the same time, the federal government has decided to send an additional 700 Marines from the Camp Pendleton military base in California to Los Angeles, in addition to the National Guard. Although the administration justified this decision by “increasing threats to federal facilities and personnel,” local residents and state leaders are skeptical of this explanation.

President Donald Trump, in turn, sharply criticized the situation at the protests, saying that such unrest is being provoked by “professional propagandists and rioters.” In a post on his Truth Social network, he tried to intimidate the demonstrators by expressing his readiness to stop the protests with even more severe measures. According to Trump, the situation in California should be stabilized by federal forces.

Governor Newsom strongly condemned this attitude, emphasizing that such a move by the federal government is a serious step that violates state sovereignty. According to him, in such cases, the federal government does not have the right to act without an official request from the regional leader. This, he noted, is not only a violation of the law, but also leads to a dangerous situation.

In this regard, Governor Gavin Newsom, in his official address to the federal government, noted that the illegal deployment of troops, instead of calming the situation in the region, will only increase tensions and lead to a decrease in trust in the federal government among the local population. His address emphasized the need to immediately return the National Guard forces to the control of local authorities.
