On the night of June 11, from 00:31 to 00:40 local time, the Russian Armed Forces carried out a new and severe drone attack on the city of Kharkiv. The Slobodskoy and Osnovyansky districts of Kharkiv were targeted by 17 Shahed drones. This was reported by the mayor of the city, Igor Terekhov, on Telegram.
Deaths and injuries among the ruins and fires
According to preliminary data, at least two civilians were killed and 54 were injured as a result of the attack. Five children were among the victims of this merciless violence.
As Mayor Terekhov reported, more than 15 apartments are burning in one of the five-story buildings. He noted that several people may be trapped under the rubble. Rescuers managed to pull several citizens out of the fire alive.
Schools, playgrounds and enterprises were also targeted
The attack affected not only residential buildings, but also playgrounds, public transport, communication and utility networks, industrial enterprises and infrastructure facilities. Electricity and water supplies were cut off in some parts of the city.
Burnt cars, broken window frames, damaged trolleybuses and outages of information networks plunged the city's population into an unexpected panic.
Emergency services are working around the clock
Emergency services and volunteers are currently dealing with the consequences of the attack. Work is underway to restore gas, electricity and water supplies.
Videos posted on the “Kharkov life” Telegram channel show burning houses, burnt cars and panicked citizens. Such scenes once again demonstrate the tragic and inhumane nature of the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Such attacks shake not only Kharkiv, but also the conscience of the entire world.
Any military action against the civilian population is an act against international law and human dignity. This night in Kharkiv is another sad page that will be written in bold letters in history. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
