The war between Russia and Ukraine is once again in the spotlight of the world community. According to the latest statement of US President Donald Trump, Russia is losing about 5 thousand soldiers per week, but this situation does not affect the plans of Russian President Vladimir Putin in any way. Trump said in his speech on the Pod Force One podcast, "he (Putin) is losing a lot of troops, but he still intends to continue the war. Ukraine is also suffering heavy losses. We will see what the result will be."
According to Trump, earlier direct negotiations were held between Moscow and Kiev, some results were achieved, but then attacks that should have been stopped were carried out, and this derailed the diplomatic process. At the same time, White House sources told The Atlantic that Trump is also dissatisfied with the operation "Spider Web" carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). In this operation, Ukrainian drones destroyed at least 12 Russian strategic bombers in early June.
According to Trump, such a bold military move could only escalate the situation. That is why he advised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to “focus on negotiations with Russia in Istanbul instead of ostentatious operations.” After that, Trump compared Putin and Zelensky to “children who hate each other, fighting” and expressed the opinion that “they should both be given a chance to fight a little more.”
In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky replied that “we are not children on the playground with Putin.”
The war between the countries has not been resolved until the end, and both sides are suffering heavy losses. Trump’s statement has caused new debates in the international arena and raised questions in the public about whether there is still hope for a diplomatic agreement between the two leaders.
