The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi, has expressed his readiness to visit Iran as soon as possible to conduct an in-depth assessment of the situation, to ensure nuclear security and to prevent proliferation. In his opinion, any attack on nuclear facilities is a clear violation of international law and the fundamental principles of the agency.
Grossi made this statement yesterday at a meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors, which was dedicated to the situation after Israel attacked nuclear facilities and civilian objects in Iran. He said, among other things, that the Iranian side had officially informed the agency about the attack on the Natanz nuclear facility.
The IAEA Director General stressed that nuclear facilities should not be targeted under any circumstances and that such situations should not be allowed. Grossi also emphasized that such attacks are contrary to international law, UN Security Council resolutions and the agency's charter.
"I have informed the relevant authorities of my readiness to travel to Iran as soon as possible to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the situation, to ensure security and prevent nuclear proliferation," he said in his speech. Grossi warned the two countries against further escalation of the conflict and called on all parties to return to the path of dialogue and negotiations. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
