Western companies under attack in Russia and Ukraine - new threats are growing
The recent series of dangerous attacks in Ukraine and Russia have drawn international attention. On the night of June 10, Russian military personnel targeted the Kiev office of the famous American aerospace company Boeing. According to the British Financial Times, this incident was confirmed by several independent sources and photographs published by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESS). The photographs show the building severely damaged, firefighters extinguishing the fire, and an empty office.

Boeing's office is located in the center of Kiev - on Glubochytskaya Street. The explosions and the damage caused by the explosions in this very place caused widespread discussion on social networks and photo banks of the SESS. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko also issued a statement about the attack and confirmed that the business center in the Shevchenkivskyi district was hit.

The statement quoted two Boeing employees, Ukrainian officials and the president of the Ukrainian-American Chamber of Commerce: according to them, the Russian strike targeted the company's office and was not an accident, but a deliberate act. At the same time, Andrey Koryagin, deputy general director of Boeing's Ukrainian division, stressed that despite the attack, the company's activities were not disrupted, and both production and services continued uninterrupted.

Although Boeing officials refused to give an official comment on the attack, the company said that it takes the safety of its employees seriously and that there were no casualties. “The resilience and dedication of our employees, even in difficult and dangerous conditions, are highly appreciated,” the company said in a statement.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga, commenting on the incident, said: “Russia’s attacks on American companies demonstrate the Putin administration’s blatant disregard for the peace-making efforts of the United States and Western countries. Targeting American businesses and partners further underscores the importance of the United States’ involvement in ensuring the security of Ukraine and Europe,” he said.

Boeing is one of the most prominent and largest American companies in Ukraine, with more than a thousand employees in the country. The company operates mainly in the fields of engineering, technical support, aircraft weapons, and defense. Recently, in 2024, Boeing and the Ukrainian national aircraft manufacturer Antonov signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation on defense projects. In early 2025, Boeing executives discussed new joint projects with Antonov and the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

At the same time, the Ukrainian army has not stopped striking military targets outside its territory. In particular, Ukrainian drones attacked Yelabuga, Tatarstan region, Russia, where a factory producing Shaheed drones is located. At least one person was killed and 13 others were injured in the attack. According to Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, the destroyed drone caused a fire at a car factory, and among the injured are patients in critical condition.

Videos circulating on social media show fires in the Alabuga special economic zone, as well as at the Shaheed drones and the Aurus and Sollers car factories. The Russian aviation service (Rosaviatsiya) imposed strict restrictions at the Kazan, Izhevsk and Nizhnekamsk airports for several hours after the attacks. At the moment, 11 planes were unable to land at Kazan, three at Izhevsk, and one airliner at Nizhnekamsk, and were diverted to reserve airfields.

These events show that the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine is entering a new phase, and that Western companies, especially American businesses and strategies, are at risk. New risks and threats for companies working in the fields of defense, aviation and technical cooperation are increasing day by day. This could pose a serious threat to the security of all of Europe and the world and create even deeper geopolitical problems.
