China strongly condemned the US strike on Iran

China once again demonstrated its peaceful position in international relations. On June 22, at an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, the country's permanent representative to the UN, Fu Cong, strongly condemned the US airstrikes on nuclear facilities located in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan in Iran. This was reported by the Global Times.

In his speech, Fu Cong said: “China is firmly opposed to the US bombing attacks on Iran and the bombing of nuclear facilities under the IAEA’s safeguards. Such actions by the US are contrary to the UN Charter and the basic principles of international law. At the same time, Iran’s sovereignty, security and territorial integrity were seriously violated.”

The Chinese diplomat also emphasized that these attacks further exacerbated the situation in the Middle East and dealt a serious blow to the existing international nuclear non-proliferation regime.

“Under the current circumstances, we believe that the entire international community, especially the members of the UN Security Council, should support justice and make practical efforts to ease the situation,” Fu Cong said.

The Chinese representative expressed serious concern about the risk of tensions spiraling out of control in the Middle East. He called on the state of Israel to immediately cease fire and refrain from spreading military actions. “All parties must comply with the norms of international law, refrain from the use of force and from further escalating the conflict,” Fu Cong reiterated.

He especially emphasized the importance of protecting civilians and stated that China is ready to continue its efforts to restore stability and peace in the Middle East. “Unfortunately, as a result of the war, the number of civilian casualties is increasing. This deeply saddens us,” said the Chinese diplomat.
