Dai Daojin, who served as deputy chairman of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, was sentenced to death for illegally receiving a large bribe. According to the verdict handed down by the Zhuhai City Court on June 24, Dai Daojin received a bribe of more than $15 million. The verdict states that the illegal income he received — a total of 107 million yuan (approximately $14.9 million) — is fully confiscated in favor of the state.
