In a prison in Urmia, Iran, three prisoners accused of spying for Israel's Mossad intelligence were executed by hanging. The executions were reported by Fars and IRNA.
According to the Iranian government, the accused attempted to smuggle assassination equipment disguised as a shipment of alcoholic beverages. They were arrested for violating the law, cooperating with an "enemy state – Israel", tried, convicted, and sentenced to death, which was carried out.
On June 22, another man was hanged for supplying confidential information to Mossad, reflecting the ongoing espionage war between Iran and Israel.
Amid the intense political and intelligence tensions, the number of executions for espionage has sharply increased. Experts see these events as posing a serious threat to regional stability.
Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel. However, reports indicate the agreement was breached shortly after its announcement, and the situation worsened.
Reports also indicate that Israel’s Shin Bet has arrested two Israeli citizens suspected of spying for Iran, and Iranian media reported the detention of two additional alleged Mossad agents.
