France takes action against Iranian drones

According to French officials, the country's armed forces destroyed about 10 unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) launched by Iran and headed toward Israel. French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu stated this during his speech in the National Assembly. He emphasized that France did not take this action as support for Israel, but to protect its military bases located in the region.

According to Lecornu, French troops activated air defense systems deployed across the region and acted based on the principle of rapid response when a threat arises. He also noted that several drones were intercepted and destroyed by Rafale fighter jets. France prioritized the safety of its military bases in Iraq and Syria in this process.

He stated that this action is part of France’s policy of defending its own independent interests. He also clarified that France had absolutely no involvement in Israel’s airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

Political analysts believe that France’s actions have a dual purpose: on one hand — to ensure security, and on the other — to maintain its regional influence and demonstrate its military capabilities to the international community. France’s continued presence in Iraq and Syria allows it to keep control over the regional situation.

Furthermore, Lecornu, in his official social media statement, also commented on the situation. He clarified that the drones were headed toward Israel and that France, having assessed the threat in advance, took measures to neutralize them. This once again demonstrates France's balanced and security-focused foreign policy.

At the same time, international political analysts warn that these developments could further escalate tensions between Iran and Israel, increasing the risk of a wider conflict.
