
A terrible incident that occurred in the Halong Bay, located in the northern part of Vietnam, shook not only the local population but the entire region. According to Associated Press, a tourist-oriented excursion boat capsized during a sea tour. This was also reported by the local news outlet VNExpress.
At the time of the incident, there were a total of 53 people on board — 48 passengers and 5 crew members. It was reported that all of them were citizens of Vietnam. The majority of the passengers were tourists, and more than 20 of them were children.
According to available information, the boat capsized in the Halong region of the South China Sea while moving over the water due to sudden strong winds and a thunderstorm.
As a result of active rescue operations, the bodies of 34 individuals were found. Among them, eight children were officially confirmed. In addition, 11 people were rescued alive. Unfortunately, several people are still considered missing.
