MRI machine acted like a weapon and caused a man's death

A tragedy at a medical facility in New York State (USA) has frightened many. In one of the private clinics in Westbury, a 61-year-old man was forcefully pulled by an MRI machine. Unfortunately, he died from the severe injuries he sustained, reported ABC News.

It was reported that the victim was not a patient of the clinic but had come with an acquaintance. For some reason, he entered the examination room without permission. The most terrifying part — he had a metal chain around his neck. At that moment, the running MRI device reacted and pulled him, causing serious injuries.

Nassau County police officially stated: it is absolutely forbidden to enter the room where the machine is operating with any metal items. In such a strong magnetic field, even a small metal object can cause a tragedy.

According to WABC, clinic staff immediately rushed to help, but despite the doctors’ efforts, the man could not be revived. It was confirmed that he died before he could be taken to the hospital.

This incident once again shows how strict safety protocols must be in U.S. medical facilities. An internal investigation has started at the clinic. Possible lapses in control over MRI room access or staff negligence are being reviewed.

Medical workers are once again urging people to be extremely cautious, especially when high-tech machines like MRI scanners are in operation, and to completely avoid wearing metal items.
