OpenAI reports that ChatGPT processes over 2.5 billion prompts every day, amounting to roughly 912.5 billion annually. Notably, about one-third of these — approximately 330 million per day — originate from U.S. users.
While Google still handles around 5 trillion searches per year, ChatGPT’s audience has surged from 300 million to over 500 million weekly active users from December 2024 to March 2025.
Analysts say ChatGPT is becoming a serious alternative to traditional search engines, thanks to its ability to quickly deliver clear, logical answers.
OpenAI is also planning to launch its own AI-powered web browser soon, boosting competition with Google. Additionally, the company has unveiled the “ChatGPT Agent” — a tool that can autonomously perform tasks on users’ computers.
