In the European business and political arena, another sensational event has become the center of discussion, reports Ekstra Bladet newspaper. Major Danish businessman, billionaire Thomas Andersen and his company board member Torben Ostergaard are reportedly providing direct service to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In recent weeks, the ship servicing company in Andersen’s Fajard port has attracted increased attention. According to the source, the Russian "Yamal LNG" plant's gas carrier "Fyodor Litke" has recently entered this port. It is specifically noted that this vessel sails under the Cypriot flag and, as reported, operates according to international law.
It is also recorded that earlier, the same company serviced the vessel "Nikolay Urvantsev." Over the past three years, the newspaper states, a total of nine Russian ships have been serviced at Fajard port.
In May, the European Union imposed new sanctions against the "Yamal LNG" plant. Restrictions were introduced against three LNG carriers belonging to Japan’s Mitsui OSK Lines, which transport Russian liquefied gas. These measures are aimed at making it more difficult for Russian LNG to access the European market.
Final conclusion: Danish billionaire Andersen and his port infrastructure continue business relations with Russia, which is making the European public and politicians think seriously. Amid new sanctions and servicing scandals, the situation in Fajard port remains in the international spotlight. In the future, this issue is expected to become a new basis for discussions in Europe–Russia relations.
