The Russian Armed Forces launched a missile strike on the territory of the training units of the Ukrainian Ground Forces located in the Chernihiv region. According to information distributed by the Ukrainian Ground Forces, this attack occurred in the evening of July 29. After the strike, unfortunately, three military personnel were killed, and another 18 people received various bodily injuries. Emergency services immediately started working at the scene, and the wounded are being provided with all the necessary medical assistance, the Ukrainian army reported.
The official statement says that if it is established that the actions or inaction of officials caused this tragedy, those responsible will be brought to legal responsibility. This made the issue of internal analysis and responsibility in the Ukrainian army even more relevant.
It should be noted that such an attack is not happening for the first time. On June 1, the Ukrainian Ground Forces also reported a missile strike on one of the training units by the Russian army, as a result of which 12 people were killed and more than 60 were injured.
On the same day, the commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, Mykhailo Drapatii, submitted his resignation. The situation indicates the need to further improve the safety of the military and the country's defense system.
