Putin Introduces Citizenship Revocation for 72 Types of Crimes

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a new law that allows for the revocation of citizenship for committing 72 types of crimes. Under the new procedure, individuals who commit these crimes may now be deprived of Russian citizenship.

According to the publication "TASS", the list includes serious offenses such as murder, terrorism, blackmail, actions that threaten state security, as well as cooperation with international organizations directed against Russia.

According to the law, citizenship can also be revoked for crimes such as gang rape, violence against minors, distribution of child pornography, promotion of terrorism, and financing terrorism.

Experts believe that this law serves to tighten control over Russia’s legal system. The law has officially come into force and is being implemented by the relevant authorities.
