A 60-year-old British tourist hiking in the Alps of Italy got caught in a rockfall, which triggered a rescue operation. This was reported by Pravilamag.
The tourist chose to walk along a dangerous mountain trail, even though there were warning signs written in both English and Italian. When the rockfall began, he got scared and didn’t dare to return on his own, so he called the emergency rescue service.
Due to bad weather conditions, rescuers had to use two special helicopters. The helicopters operated in the air for about one and a half hours.
As a result, the rescued tourist was presented with a bill of €14,225. More than €11,000 of this amount was for the helicopter rescue operation.
