Another important step is being taken on the stage of international politics. According to statements by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, he is planning a face-to-face meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump, and considers the United Arab Emirates to be “a very suitable” country for such an event.
After a meeting with the UAE leader at the Kremlin, Putin told journalists:
According to the Russian leader, interest in the meeting with Donald Trump exists from both sides. Sources in the Kremlin note that the meeting was initially proposed by the American side. However, the White House declared that the initiative came from Russia. This clearly demonstrates the difference in diplomatic approaches.
It is also noteworthy that Vladimir Putin received U.S. President’s special representative Stephen Witkoff at the Kremlin, and later, Putin’s aide Yury Ushakov reported that preparations for a personal meeting between Putin and Donald Trump are underway.
According to Ushakov, the negotiations are expected to take place “in the near future.” The location of the summit has already been agreed upon, but official information will be disclosed later.
Putin also stated that he is not opposed to meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. However, he once again reminded that “certain conditions must be created” beforehand. “It is not close yet,” the Russian president added.
If this meeting takes place, it could become one of the turning points in the history of international relations. A conversation between such influential political figures as Putin and Trump could impact not only Russia–U.S. relations, but also the global geopolitical landscape.
