Germany to buy $500 million worth of weapons from the US for Ukraine

The German government will allocate $500 million to purchase a large batch of US-made military equipment for Ukraine. This funding is part of one of the first major packages under the PURL (Priority Ukraine Requirements List) mechanism.

Berlin will use the funds to acquire weapons that are not produced in Europe or can be delivered faster from the US. Priority items include air defense systems and modern radar complexes.

Since the start of the Russian invasion, Germany has provided Ukraine with military aid worth a total of €40 billion, including heavy artillery, armored vehicles, air defense systems, and counter-drone equipment.

Earlier, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden also announced $500 million each to purchase US-made weapons and ammunition for Ukraine.
