A strong earthquake struck Indonesia’s Central Sulawesi province. According to reports, the 6.0 magnitude quake hit the Poso district, leaving at least 29 people injured.
Indonesia lies on the so-called “Ring of Fire” in the Pacific Ocean, a region known for its intense seismic activity. This area is where tectonic plates meet, often causing frequent and powerful earthquakes.
In January 2021, Sulawesi was also rocked by a 6.2 magnitude earthquake that killed over 100 people and destroyed thousands of homes.
