According to the Russian president's assistant Ushakov, Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump had a direct telephone conversation half an hour ago. The conversation lasted approximately 40 minutes, and it was acknowledged that the relations between the two leaders were sincere, open, and very constructive.
During the conversation, Trump informed Putin about the diplomatic negotiations being conducted with Ukrainian President Zelensky and European leaders. At the same time, both parties stated their readiness to support direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. This step will help ease the situation in the region and strengthen relations.
Ushakov emphasized that the presidents of Russia and the US agreed to continue close contact regarding the Ukraine crisis and other pressing international issues. In addition, Putin particularly highlighted the importance of the US president's efforts to regulate the situation in Ukraine.
During the conversation, the Russian president expressed gratitude to Trump for his hospitality and for organizing the meeting in Alaska well. Also, sincere appreciation was expressed for the achievements reached during the meeting.
