Fire breaks out at construction site of Tajikistan's largest stadium

In the capital of Tajikistan, the city of Dushanbe, at the construction site which is planned to become the largest football stadium in the country in the future, a major fire occurred on the morning of August 20.

Several fire brigades quickly arrived at the scene, and due to their prompt actions, the fire was extinguished in a short time. Currently, the causes of the fire and the amount of material damage to the stadium are unknown.

The new sports facility occupies a total area of 9.5 hectares, and after construction is completed, it will accommodate 30,000 spectators. The stadium meets international standards and will allow international competitions to be held in Tajikistan, as well as play an important role in developing football and the sports culture in the country.

The project started in 2019 and is planned to be completed in 2026, dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence. The facility is being built by a Chinese company as part of FIFA projects.

The stadium will have two-story stands with four rows, a special zone for 448 seats for high-ranking guests, a walking area, changing rooms, showers and medical points, sports halls, cafés, and parking for 2,000 cars. In addition, 72 television monitors and 312 special lights will be installed to provide high-quality visual demonstrations at the stadium. For spectator convenience, two bridges will be built over the Varzob and Luchob rivers.

Furthermore, at the initiative of the President of the Football Federation of Tajikistan, Rustam Emomali, a museum dedicated to the history of national football and its development is planned to open on the stadium territory. This museum will be an important and interesting place not only for football fans but also for anyone interested in the country’s sports history.

Thus, the new stadium in Dushanbe will not only update the country’s sports infrastructure but also play a significant role in enhancing Tajikistan’s international prestige in the sports field.
