The Israeli army is preparing for a major attack on Gaza City. According to the plan, 60,000 reservists will be called up in September. The main fighting will be carried out by regular troops.
The attack plan was approved by the defense minister. Currently, operations are continuing in some parts of Gaza.
Israel’s decision is being heavily criticized internationally. French President Emmanuel Macron called it “a disaster for both peoples.” International organizations also view the plan as dangerous.
The UN and other humanitarian organizations state that forcing people to move south could violate international law. The southern areas are already overcrowded, and people are struggling with food and living conditions.
Israel, however, says the main goal is to defeat Hamas and free the hostages. But no ceasefire agreement has been reached yet, so the situation is expected to escalate further.
